One of the first things a visitor to our church notices upon entering is our warmth and friendliness. We, as a church body, are aware of the necessity to make all folks feel welcome and a part of something special, because we know one thing to be true, all people are loved by God. Here at the American Baptist Church of Lakeland, you will feel a sense of inclusion whether you are a first time visitor, or a long time attendee.
What we believe
Our Christian beliefs are centered in Jesus Christ as the Way of salvation for all humanity. In him, the only begotten Son of God the Father, we have life and truth. We believe in, and emphasize, the teachings of Jesus, which help to transform us into his likeness, by the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus is coming again, and is the Head of the local and Universal Church, for the purpose of advancing the Kingdom of God on Earth by making disciples and believer’s baptism. We believe in the Holy Scriptures (the Bible), the inspired Word of God, as having authority on Earth to grow in faith, and to bring Light into darkness and to rebuke the forces of evil. We believe that true believers are going to heaven and will escape the judgment. We also believe it is our responsibility to pray for everyone!
